Science Club for Girls Media Team, 2004 Project Website In the summer of 2004, I worked with teenagers for the first time, guiding seven at-risk girls in the creation of a rocket science video. The students were Cambridge middle school graduates in a pilot six-week summer internship program with Science Club for Girls. The interns had to master basic script-writing, storyboarding, videotaping, sound recording, and editing in order to produce a kid friendly documentary demonstrating how rockets work. The 10-minute video, Blast-Off News, linked short segments combining interviews with scientists, stop motion clay animation, blue screen, NASA footage, experiments and action footage of model rocket launches to explain different aspects of rocket science in a news format.
